Influence
Red Shadows (Weird Tales, August 1928) introduces Solomon Kane; The Shadow Kingdom (August 1929) introduces King Kull of Valusia. Both precede Conan (December 1932) and both were written for the same magazine that published Lovecraft. The sword-and-sorcery line—personal violence in an antique or invented world, with supernatural menace—enters the periodical field at these dates. A fuller Howard bibliography belongs later; these are the launch holdings.
